Waiting Is

Music and lyrics copyright ©2004 by Blake Hodgetts

Is there a hidden purpose
that keeps the worlds in flight?
We search for deeper meanings;
We scry with second sight.
Things happen for a reason,
Or simply come to be.
To every thing its season;
To every stream its destiny.

We walk in isolation,
And yet we're not alone,
Each in our circle standing
Enlaced by those we've known,
And when two circles' merging
Lets two souls reach across,
From distant points converging,
who then shall judge the gain or loss?

(chorus)
Waiting is
A kind of stasis.
I embrace the here and now.
Waiting gives
The pulse that races
Peace from worry
Ease from hurry
Waiting knows how

I don't recognize this country;
This is no common road.
No compass do I carry,
No signs can I decode,
And through the night winds faring,
These stars are strange to me.
Can't see around that corner,
Can't fly across that sea.
I don't know what we're sharing;
I don't know where we'll be.
What happens when it happens,
If it happens, as it happens,
I'll just wait and see...

(chorus instrumental)

Some feel the need to question
What we perceive as real.
I don't need higher powers
To tell me how to feel.
I choose this path untrodden
To walk with open eyes.
I watch my borders broaden,
My steps more foolish or more wise.

Waiting is
A kind of stasis.
I embrace the here and now.
Waiting gives
The pulse that races
Peace from worry
Ease from hurry
Waiting is
A kind of stasis.
I embrace the here and now.
Waiting gives
The pulse that races
Peace from worry
Ease from hurry
Waiting knows how
